The personal story
After lending out my calculator to another student and never receiving it back, I realised there was a bigger problem. Students often need essential school items, but there was no simple way to borrow them responsibly.
Instead of letting that experience be a frustration, I turned it into an idea. A free lending service where students can access the supplies they need while building a culture of trust and responsibility.
Ensuring students avoid unnecessary and avoidable school sanctions.
The Daryl Loan was established with the goal of creating a modern, efficient lending service within the school environment. Our objective is to provide students with convenient access to essential equipment when they need it, while developing a sustainable business model built around reliability, trust, and operational excellence. By reducing the inconvenience of forgotten or unavailable resources, The Daryl Loan delivers a practical solution for students and creates measurable value through a structured lending system. We are committed to continuous improvement, responsible growth, and building a service recognised for innovation, accessibility, and quality.
Measuring trust, reliability, and borrowing performance.
Loan Score is The Daryl Loan's internal reliability rating system, designed to measure customer borrowing performance and responsibility. Each customer begins with a starting score of 4.0, measured on a scale from 0.1 to 5.0 that can rise or fall over time based on borrowing behaviour.
A higher Loan Score reflects consistent reliability and successful loan completion. A lower score signals a decline in performance and may affect future access to lending services.
A clear, fair framework.
Sanctions are applied proportionately, escalating only where necessary to maintain an accountable lending environment.
Verbal Warning
Level 1A reminder issued prior to any official warnings.
Warnings 1 / 2 / 3
Level 2Official warnings recorded against the account.
Timeout
Level 3Temporary removal of the borrowed item during the lesson.
Temporary Blacklist
Level 4A more serious sanction involving being blacklisted.
Enhanced Blacklist
Level 5Applied for more severe breaches of the guidelines.
Permanent Blacklist
Level 6Reserved for the most consequential actions executed.
Right to appeal
You may only appeal a sanction if it has been marked as appealable. Some sanctions are unappealable by nature, and where a sanction states that it cannot be appealed, that decision is final.
Before submitting, always check whether your sanction allows an appeal. If it says you cannot appeal, then no appeal can be made.

Terms and Conditions.
Please read the following carefully. By borrowing from The Daryl Loan, you agree to all terms below.
1General Terms
You will compensate for any damages which are major or minor with a fee of £10-£100, depending on the item.
You must not use the item in harsh, wet, or extremely hot conditions. This includes using it on the floor.
The staff of The Daryl Loan get the final say. You cannot argue in any circumstances, or attempt to revoke sanctions.
Failure to pay the fine will result in a permanent from all property until appealed successfully.
I reserve the right to take back the item at any time whilst you are using. This may be due to behaviour or other reasons.

2Responsibilities
Unauthorised sub-lending is prohibited.
It is your responsibility to return the item, lost items will be charged.
It is responsibility to read everything clearly. This can be used against you if necessary.
RULES can be CHANGED, ADDED, or REMOVED at ANY TIME by the Founder.
All damages will be paid on your behalf unless evidence is provided which proves that you did not damage the item.
Any form of ragebait, such as giving someone else the pen and pretending they stole is it not permitted.
